Chapter 3 – Allen Firm
I got off Allen-sama’s lap and stood in front of the readied blackboard.
I’ve never been this nervous, even when I was in the Royal Academy or being picked on by the teachers.
Feeling his gentle gaze on me, I opened my mouth.
“First of all, let’s review what we know of. Currently, Allen-sama’s position is as a negotiator for the business dealings of two Dukes, Leinster and Howard, in the Royal Capital.”
“That’s right. If you ever want it, you can take over the position anytime, Felicia. Feel free to.”
“I don’t wanna. I’ll continue. Over the past few months, Allen-sama and Anna-sensei have been examining and signing contracts with a lot of excellent business partners and thus our performance has been very good. However, it raised a problem.”
Allen-sama tilted his head.
……So cute. So cute that it’s a sin. Ema-san, can’t you come back already? I want to take pictures of this.
“……It’s nothing. Anyway, when you were off to the Eastern Capital, Allen-sama, I had several business meetings with a number of merchants. Every time, they asked for the name of this business venue.”
“Hm. So, because we don’t have a proper designation, it takes extra time and effort to prepare contract documents and many other things, is that right?”
“Yes. Not having a name is also inconvenient for when we are trying to score a new business partner. For a merchant, a name is essential after all. Therefore, after consulting both Dukes, we——”
“……Hold on a second, please. You’re not telling me that it’s already?”
“Don’t tell me……That name is already official? And not just a nickname for the people in my close circle??”
Close circle! I’ve been recognized by Allen-sama as someone close to him!
Wh-, what do I do. My heart is beating too fast.
Calm down. Calm down, Felicia.
The blunder from before, I will repay it right now!
As composed as I could, I answered.
“Her Duchess Lisa-sama has said; ‘I have no objection with that name. I’m positive it will sell.’ She was happy with your accomplishments and was looking forward to the company’s further expansion.”
“…………You’re actually quite the bully, huh, Felicia.”
“Not as much as you are, Allen-sama. Umm……should I not have done that?”
The panicked look on his face made me panic.
Wh- ,what do I do now?
I overworked my brain as hard as I could, but……it was useless. Nothing came out. I mean, I’ve never been this close to a man before……hweeh
A warm hand gently stroked my head.
“Well, what’s done is done. We can’t keep being nameless forever, after all. Thank you for your work, Felicia. Although, I’m sure Lisa-san and Anna-san are having the laugh of their lives by now. But……If you ever want it, we can always change it to Felicia Firm.”
“……We won’t. It will always, always be Allen Firm.”
My head moved naturally.
Karen sometimes stayed over at Allen-sama’s place on weekends, and by the time she was back to the dorm, she was in a really good mood and said ‘Nii-san is unfair. As soon as he’s at a disadvantage, he pulls out his patting game.’ Now I understood what he meant. As expected of the ‘Sword Princess’ Brain.’ So wise. So cunning. ……So unfair.
“But still, we are still using the name Howard and Leinster, right? I am sure that is the reason why so many people trusted this firm and did business with us in the first place. If we put my name in the front door, won’t people be reluctant to do business with us?”
“I seem to recall a man who rented an old office building, who purposely kept the furnishings at low-end, just to carefully select his clients. I believe your concern is unfounded. In fact, the number of inquiries that come our way has been steadily increasing.”
“Really, you are one mean girl, Felicia.”
His hand left my head.
D-, don’t tell me, he-, he hates me now……Fearfully, I turned to him.
Allen-sama looked a bit troubled, but he had his usual gentle smile.
“Let’s put this matter aside for now. Next, give me the reports of everything that happened during my absence——Ema-san, please come inside already. Otherwise, I will be forced to report to Anna-san; ‘We have signs of rebellion amongst the maids.’”
“ALLEN-SAMAAA?! Y-, you, you, you mustn’t!! If-, if the head maid had known of what we did……W-, we are loyal to Lidya-Ojousama, Linne-Ojousama, and the Madam, and we love them from the bottom of our hearts. Our conviction changes not a bit!”
“BUT IT’S HARD TO IGNORE FELICIA-OJOUSAMA WHO IS LOST IN HER FIRST LOVE!!!”
“Ack?! A-, Allen-sama, that-, that is just too cruel.”
“Fufu. It’s nothing more than an audio recording, you know. It’s not like I am going to do anything with it. I won’t, but……Oh, it just occurred to me, I need to write letters to Lidya and the others, don’t I?”
“Uggh……I understand. Let us stop this unproductive battle.”
“I am glad that you do. Now, Felicia, let’s continue this over tea. Ema-san.”
I was taken aback by the exchange that Allen-sama and Ema-san suddenly started.
……I wonder if I’ve been swinging between sadness and joy too much?
Oh no, this won’t do. I need to get myself together. And then, I will make the Allen Firm the best Chamber of Commerce in the whole Royal Capital——no, in the whole Kingdom!
After that, I’m sure, he will……I glanced at Allen-sama, and our gazes crossed.
I could feel blood rushing to my cheeks.
“Now, Allen-sama, put Felicia-Ojousama on your lap!”
“……You just won’t bend, will you?”
——Our meeting went well afterwards. From this point on, half of the week would be spent like this. Just thinking about it made me smile.
I, Felicia, will do my best!
