The Little Duchess' Home Tutor (Novel) - V1 Ex12
Volume 1 Segment 4
Extra 12 – Chat
“Open wide, Allen~”
“What are you doing?”
“Well, it’s not every day that you get hospitalized do you, Allen? Nathan too, Karen as well, everyone in our family has been always healthy, I’ve always wanted to try doing this once, you know𝅘𝅥𝅮”
From the side of the hospital bed, my mother stuck out a slice of apple on a fork and brought it to my mouth.
Behind her was Karen, smiling a bit stiffly. There was nothing I could do to fight this.
I obediently ate it——oh, it’s delicious.
“Ufufu𝅘𝅥𝅮 That was fun. One more~”
“M-mom, let me do the rest. You need to go home soon or dad will be worried.”
“Eeh. You really love your brother, Karen.”
“Th-that’s not…wrong at all…”
I won’t comment, Karen.
My mother, who was all smiles when she watched us, handed a plate of fruits to Karen then stood up from her chair.
“I’ll be leaving. Karen, I leave your brother to you.”
“Yes. It’s okay, Lidya-san and the others are here.”
“Good girl. Now that’s my daughter. Allen.”
“You’ve worked hard, so now you have to rest properly.”
“No buts. You are prohibited to leave until you get permission, okay? You hear me?”
“…Yes. Thanks mom. Say hi to dad for me.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine. We’ll come visiting together later.”
Her warm hand gently stroked my head.
This was a bit embarrassing… After a while, Mom pulled her hand then gave me a smile.
“You have to get more sleep, okay?”
“…I’ve slept enough.”
“You have to. Karen.”
“I will keep an eye on him.”
My mother and my sister conspired together to prevent me from leaving the hospital.
Even though both Lidya and Tina were already discharged from hospital… sigh…
Still, I’m sure I’ve made them worry, and I still have time left on my vacation too. Is it okay for me to waste away a day or two like this?
I already informed Felicia whom we left in the capital that we might be late getting back. However, she is also a worrywart herself, so if we were a bit too late to get back, it’s all too possible for her to come rushing over here.
I’m thankful for their consideration, but… Everyone is being too overprotective.
“Allen, be good until I come back again, okay? I’ll come visiting soon.”
I walked out of my son’s hospital ward, down the stairs, and saw the hospital entrance——I should have gone far enough.
…Haaah, thank goodnessss!
Really, that boy! By heavens and all that is holy!! Just how many times does he want to make his mother’s heart stop?
I staggered on my feet, so I trod to a waiting chair nearby and slumped onto it.
…Maybe I shouldn’t have sent him to the Royal Academy and raised him here ourselves instead… Maybe he wouldn’t throw himself into danger all the time that way.
At that moment, someone called me from behind. I turned around, and there I saw a maid with such a straight, serious look on her face.
“Oh dear me, Anna-san. Ufufu. We’ve been exchanging letters every month, so maybe that’s why it doesn’t feel like it’s been long since we last met. Has Lisa-sama been well?”
“Yes. Madam just arrived here and she wishes to speak with you, Erin-sama.”
I couldn’t help but stare at Anna-san’s face. She really was as endearing as ever.
But still, what does Lisa-sama——the Duchess of Leinster want to talk with me about?
With how friendly she was with me and how we had been exchanging letters regularly, it was hard to believe that she was actually a Duchess……Aah, so that’s what.
“Is it about Allen? It’s alright. Fortunately, the kid is fine, he always is! Although, I must say, he keeps making his parent’s hearts stop for a second, but…it can’t be helped now. He is Allen, after all.”
“That is not the problem here, Erin.”
Anna-san took a step back, and from behind her, a beautiful, red haired woman——Duchess Lisa Leinster appeared.
I hurriedly tried to stand up, but she rushed to me and grabbed both of my hands.
“‘Sama,’ is it…I wish you would stop adding that suffix. Or perhaps we, Leinsters, have lost all of your fondness due to the recent incident?”
“Erin, I’m really, really sorry…for putting your son in danger time and time again ever since he was involved with my daughter… I really don’t know how to apologize for all that happened to him. I even made a promise to you at that time, and yet…”
Lisa-san’s hands were trembling as big drops of tears swelled in her eyes.
Aah…I once again remembered what Allen had written in his letter.
‘In the sense that both of them are unreasonable, excessive, and difficult to deal with, Lisa-sama truly is Lidya’s mother, but…she is someone trustworthy.”
You’re right, Allen. You sure have a good eye. As expected of my son!
Unexpectedly, I put on a smile.
“…Are you not angry? Here I thought you will finally cut off all ties with me this time?”
“As if I ever will. If I did, my son would be mad at me. He is always like that, that child of mine. Even if my husband and I stopped him, he would never let Lidya-chan be alone or abandon Tina-chan.
“However, his life was in real danger this time…!”
I stared into her beautiful eyes.
I let go of her trembling hands, took out a handkerchief, and wiped her tears away.
“That boy is——Allen is Nathan and I’s prized son, our pride and joy. We will not deny the decisions that he had made of his own will. If anything, we want to praise him for it. Indeed, he really surprises us at times, and it really puts us on edge every time, but…even after everything, we still applaud him for what he did. After all, it is proof that we have raised him to be such a kind child who is willing to risk his own life to protect someone else. Now, let us put all this depressing mood behind. Are you free? I have some delicious honey glazed fruit at home. Please do come and have some𝅘𝅥𝅮”
