The Classless Transferee's Skill Copy - Chapter 72
Chapter 72: Rendvell Games, Block D, and Malice in Motion
In the guest room, Meryl and the rest were overjoyed at my victory.
“He won! Aruto-san won!”
“Good grief, that really threw me for a fright…”
Magius sighed, referring to when I used my body as bait for a strategy.
“Those kinds of strategies are Master’s forte.”
“But as a friend of his who was watching nearby, it really frightened me.”
They didn’t speak any further, and Lulu turned to look at me on the monitor.
Meryl couldn’t help but grimace.
“He’ll be facing off against Kiriya in the finals then…”
“Yeah. …Aruto-san won’t lose!”
“Is that so? Do you think he’ll win, despite having struggled in that last fight of his?”
Meryl and Anatos locked eyes for a moment, and turned away at each other, humphing.
In the bottom of her heart, Kylie really wanted to retort that the two seemed to get along pretty well.
“Well, before that… time for block D!”
As Magius said that, the girls once again turned towards the monitor.
However, Anatos seemed to have noticed something and stood up.
“Anatos? Where are you going?”
“… There’s no point in watching any longer.”
Muttering that, Anatos walked off.
“You’re such a cold girl…”
Mystified, Meryl watched Anatos as she walked away.
The next thing I knew, I was back in the waiting room.
I looked around, and just as I realized that I had indeed returned, Glenn and Snow approached me.
“Hey, nice work!”
“That was a good fight, Aruto.”
I thanked them for their praise. Soon after, Dimgart and Molta came by as well.
“Ah, crap! And I wanted to fight you as well!”
“Heeheehee, there’s still a chance for me to fight.”
Come to think of it, Molta was in block D…
“Mm. Congratulations, Aruto!”
Through his mask, Masked Jetter smiled and clapped me on the shoulder.
I got called out unexpectedly, and I turned around to see Captain Luke there.
“Thanks for putting up with my selfishness. It was a good change of pace. I’m frustrated that I lost, but… do your best!”
Seeing him stretch out his hand to me, I smiled and shook his hand.
“I’ll fight to the end, just like with you!”
“Well said!” he responded, and let go of my hand, smiling.
“Participants of block D, please gather and prepare!”
A staff member came into the waiting room with a speaker and made an announcement.
Following this, the participants of block D left.
“Time for us to go!”
Masked Jetter and Molta, who were also participating in block D, also moved out.
“Don’t lose, Mister Molta.”
“You do your best too, Masked Jetter!”
They nodded at Dimgart and Snow’s words of encouragement and left the waiting room.
In a restroom a small distance away from the coliseum, Yuugure received a message on his communication device.
“…Huh? Is that true?”
Surprised by what the person on the other end was saying, he asked.
Then, he continued listening to what they had to say.
“As expected, they’re targeting this tournament….”
He exhaled lightly. “Just as I thought.”
The expression on his face betrayed his thoughts—that this was going to be troublesome.
“…Alright. He’s irritating, but I guess I’ll help him out. …Ah, okay.”
The line cut off, and Yuugure heaved a sigh.
“Before they get in my way… I’ll tell him.”
He put his communication device in his pocket and headed to the waiting room.
After they finished introducing the participants of block D, the fight began.
Molta slashed through enemies with his scythe, and Masked Jetter beat up his opponents with his bare fists.
Masked Jetter really fought like a hero of justice…
His jumps and his punches felt righteous.
On the other hand, Molta was just like the Grim Reaper, his body trembling eerily as he moved.
Either one of them could win here.
As I was watching them fight through the monitors, Yuugure came up to me.
His expression was grimmer than usual.
“…Asou, let me talk with you for a bit.”
As he gave off an aura of seriousness, I immediately nodded and left the waiting room with him, talking in the darkness of the hallway.
“Alright, now what?”
“You came to this town to investigate that corrupting Monster Drug, right?”
So he knew…
“Well, rather than investigating it personally, I’m here on the behest of the knights who commissioned me, who’re investigating it themselves… or something like that.”
“As expected of a guild for odd jobs. The thing is, just now, Anatos found the merchant of the drug.”
The merchant’s here…?!
“I tried to interrogate him, but he drank poison and killed himself, it seems. Hah, it seems he was willing to sacrifice himself to protect that rotten drug….”
In the end, he didn’t gain any information…
“But there’s no doubt that they’re going to try doing something at this tournament. By them, I mean either the people who bought the drug from the merchant… or the guy’s close associates….”
Either way, everyone gathered in the stadium was in danger…!
I asked Yuugure about what he was pondering, but he said it wasn’t anything important and stopped.
“Anyway, I’m gonna have to go off now, probably. Don’t provoke anyone.”
“…Alright. You guys are looking into it too, after all.”
“… Don’t misunderstand. The drug’s a bother, so I want to wipe it out. That’s all.”
“But for now, we’ll head to the finals. I still have a score to settle with you.”
Yuugure and I returned to the waiting room, and with three minutes left, Molta and Masked Jetter were fighting.
Evading Molta’s scythe slashes gracefully, Masked Jetter then closed the gap between them.
He landed a powerful blow on Molta’s stomach, sending him high into the air.
At the same time, Masked Jetter jumped up even higher, turned around in midair, and assumed a heel drop position.
Molta was hit with a heel drop filled with energy, knocking him to the ground and making him vanish simultaneously…
And so, when the fight ended, the commentator announced.
“The winner of block D is… Masket Jetter!!”
The spectators cheered.
And thus, the victors of all four blocks were decided.
“Now, it’s time for the finals! The victor from block A, Yuugure Kiriya! The victor from block B, Snow Crowzell! The victor from block C, Asou Aruto! And the victor from block D, Masked Jetter! These four people will engage in… A battle royale!”
Yuugure, Snow, Masked Jetter, and I were displayed on the monitor.
At last, the finals have come… and I had no plans of losing…!
Clenching my fists rightly, I strengthened my resolve for the finals…
In a dark corner of the coliseum, a conversation was taking place.x
“It seems that our merchant was discovered by someone and tried to kill himself.”
“If that’s the case, no information should have leaked out.”
“But we can’t feel relieved. There are knights roaming around this tournament… And on top of that….”
The two men looked at the screen of a communication device. On it, I, Asou Aruto, was displayed.
“The man who keeps getting in the way of Absolute Demise’s plans…”
“The classless adventurer… Asou Aruto. He could pose a danger to us. For the sake of our plan… And for the sake of those who bestowed this power upon us… we cannot tolerate failure.”
“Is there anything we can do to take him down?”
“…For some reason, he values his allies and friends a lot. I have what we need to destroy him—both in body and soul.”
The two men cackled and left the area…
On the screen of one of the men’s communication devices was… My friend, Snow Crowzell.
