The Classless Transferee's Skill Copy - Chapter 65
Chapter 65: Receptionist
As Snow and I faced each other, Meryl and the rest caught up to us.
Lulu’s father immediately dashed over to us, and looked at Lulu, who was in my arms.
Lulu awoke to her father’s screams.
Then, she realized what kind of situation she was in.
Seeing that I had her in a princess carry, her face flushed red.
“A, aaaah!! Um, A-Aruto-san…!?”
“Oh? So you’re awake, Lulu.”
Seeing that she had awoken, I put her down.
…for some reason, though, my face was red.
“U-um… thanks for helping me out.”
“It wasn’t just me who helped; everyone here did.”
Lulu looked around at everyone present.
But, a question popping into her head, she asked me something.
“By the way, Aruto-san. You just called me…”
…come to think of it; I’ve been calling her Lulu without the honorifics this whole time.
Algard got to my head, so I ended up saying that in the spur of the moment.
“Ah, my bad. I was getting too familiar with you, wasn’t I?”
“Not at all. I don’t mind that, Aruto-san!”
As we laughed, Lulu’s father walked up to us.
“Aruto-kun… you have my gratitude for rescuing my daughter.”
“Just like I said to her… it wasn’t just me who rescued her. I’m just one out of the many people who saved her!”
“…You remind me of myself when I was young. Anyway, you and Lulu… you aren’t lovers at all, aren’t you…?”
Lulu and I became dumbfounded at the possibility that perhaps her father had noticed that we were faking our relationship.
“Perhaps you thought you were fooling me? I’m not that cloudy-eyed.”
I couldn’t compete with him at all…
“But Lulu really does seem to like you.”
By ‘like,’ does he mean as a friend?
Instead of making me blush, it actually kind of hurt…
“But you don’t just hold Lulu important, but countless other people too, don’t you?”
“I don’t know what you mean by ‘important, but I do treat the people who mean a lot to me with importance. There are the guild members, of course, and Veig, and Lulu too…”
Lulu’s eyes sparkled as she blushed faintly.
Looking at his daughter, Lulu’s father struck me a proposal.
“Aruto-kun. Can Lulu-san join your guild?”
“W-what’re you saying, dad?!”
The proposal surprised Lulu, me, Meryl, and the rest.
“I-I’m not an adventurer at all, though… I can’t fight!”
“But I can’t let you keep working at the Adventurers’ Guild like this.”
It’s true that there were some adventurers that would try to forcibly abduct Lulu and such…
As I thought about this, I turned to look at her father, who was looking at me with a solemn face.
It was, as they say, the face of a father who was entrusting his daughter to someone.
His gaze conveyed that if it was with these people, he’d be fine entrusting her to us…
“It’s fine, right, Aruto-san…?”
“We need a receptionist.”
“If Lulu-nee comes along, we’ll be more popular!”
Meryl, Eim, and Magius each said to me.
I thought about punching Magius for what he said for a moment, but I held myself back and turned to Lulu and her father.
“I… we don’t mind… However, I want to hear your thoughts on this, Lulu. What do you think?”
Lulu was vexed as she thought of how to answer.
I extended my hand out to her.
“Then, I’ll ask regardless of your father’s proposal. I want you to become our ally. I want you to become… a member of Possible Star… as our receptionist!”
Seeing my serious expression, Lulu’s eyes widened, and she giggled.
Then, she took my hand.
“I’m still inexperienced in some fields… but I’m glad to be on board, Aruto-san!”
“Glad to have you, Lulu!”
We smiled as we shook hands.
Everyone grinned as they saw us.
“…Sorry for ruining the mood, but, Aruto, what happened with Algard-sama?”
It had probably been bothering him for a long time, so Veig asked about the Orc, about Algard.
“I defeated him together with Snow over here.”
I looked towards Snow, who was in front of me, and everyone turned to look at him as well.
“Sorry, but who are you?”
“Sorry for not introducing myself. I am Snow Crowzell, a solo adventurer.”
Snow bowed his head gracefully.
There was a certain elegance to it.
“Thanks to you, we’ve prevented further damage. Many thanks.”
“No need to thank me. Besides, it was Aruto who dealt the finishing blow to that monster.”
Snow turned to look at me as he laughed.
We told Snow that the Orc had used to be human, and that there existed a certain “Monster Drug” that could turn people into monsters.
“I see… so those rumors are true…”
“Ah, so you know about it too, Snow…”
“Yes, I do.”
But for Monster Drug to get into the hands of nobles… what a dangerous situation.
“Oh, right. About Monster Drug… I have a request for you to take, Aruto-kun.”
A request from Veig, the Knights’ captain…?
“There’s been reports in Rendvell, a city where duels are popular, of Monster Drug sightings.”
Sightings in a city…?!
If someone turned into a monster inside the city, wouldn’t an incident just like this one happen?!
“The city is actually under the jurisdiction of one of the five Knight Commanders, and I want you to work with him to see how deep the Monster Drug case goes. Of course, we’ll pay handsomely.”
…If we can apprehend the suppliers of the Monster Drug, then it follows that we’d be able to get info on who’s producing it.
“…Alright. We’re also interested in the Monster Drug.”
“Hearing you say that, I’m relieved. I’ll arrange for a carriage to take you there in a few hours.”
“I see. Meryl, Eim, Magius… and Lulu, let’s head over to Rendvell.”
Meryl and the rest nodded.
To be honest, I was hesitant to bring Lulu along since she couldn’t fight, but I asked her to go since I wanted her to gather information herself.
Then, Lulu’s father came up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Take care, Lulu.”
“Aruto-kun. I’m leaving my daughter in your hands.”
“You can count on me!”
I shook hands with Lulu’s father, telling him that he could count on me.
Then, Snow came to say something to me.
“I have business to attend to in Rendvell too. Would it bother you if we went together?”
With Snow’s help, monsters that attacked us wouldn’t be a problem…
“Alright. It’ll only be for a short while, but I’d be glad to have you on board!”
A few hours later, the carriage Veig called for came, and we headed towards Rendvell…
There were two men in the darkness on our way to Rendvell.
They hid in the shadows, such that we couldn’t see them.
“…Huh? The knights arranged for that classless adventurer to come?”
“Seems like it. It appears that the knights are keeping their guard up against us.”
“No problem. As long as we have this Monster Drug…”
One of the men took out a capsule of Monster Drug and showed it to the other.
Seeing it, the other man smirked.
Unbeknownst to them, Yuugure Kiriya and Anatos were watching that scene…
